The Vampire Diaries, a comedy full of references to pop culture, is fun. The most iconic is when Elena and Damon attend Whitmore College to learn how to feed. In the process, Elena finds a discarded video camera and spots hilarious lines from Damon. Damon’s initial reference to pop culture from The Vampire Diaries is this line. It’s a wonderful example of his clever comedy.
The Vampire Diaries is one of The the CW Network’s best-loved shows that has been on the air for years. It’s currently on the third season and will be renewed for a fourth season in September 2012. This series offers a unique mix of young and teenage adult romantic drama with the supernatural as well as horror aspects. The show demonstrates the effectiveness to duplicate genres.
Van Helsing
If you’re an avid fan of The Vampire Diaries, you might like to check out some of Damon Salvatore’s pop-culture references. He walked into Elena and Stefan’s bedroom in the beginning of the season and declared “I’ll put my money into another thing!” He was able to soothe the tension by making a humorous joke, it didn’t cause any trouble for his brothers or Elena as they slept. He asked them to quit having sexual contact, and they were seen looking each other in the eye. Damon Salvatore will be a part of our lives forever.
Damon makes references to Count Dracula and Indian alternative health advocate Deepak Chopra in the series. The show is satirical of popular culture, Salvatore manages to humanize vampires to make them more relatable.
